RAVENNA FESTIVAL OF PERFORMING ARTS
Since 1990, Ravenna Festival has been growing as one of the most acclaimed and prestigious music and performing art festivals in Europe. The Festival has been conceived and founded from Cristina Mazzavillani Muti and takes place between may and july every year.
Born as a festival of classical music and opera, over the years, has widened its horizons with music jazz, electronics, ethnic, dance, shows and conferences always of extreme high quality.
The keyword for Ravenna Festival is its great presence on the territory, embracing more than 100 venues where the shows take place.
The main venue is Dante Alighieri Theatre but often the Festival moves inside Ravenna Monuments (S.Apollinare in Classe, S.Apollinare Nuovo, St. Francesco Church, St. Vitale), in the cloisters and in the principal squares of the city and outskirts. Every performance becomes even more fascinating through the synergy between art, culture and unique sites where the shows take place.
The activities of Ravenna Festival Foundation continue during the winter season.
